Please help! Piper is missing!

Please pass this around your social networks and to everyone you know. Piper escaped foster #1 through a severe lack of common sense. Pigpen and CB are now with a wonderful foster who assured me the same issues will not happen with these two.

If you are anywhere in the US or know anyone in the US, please pass this around to everyone you know. I'm focusing mostly on the southern states, like NC, VA, WV, TN, SC, MD, etc. but anywhere would help.

I think the poor girl has tried everything she can think of and then some.

Oh, Kaela that's awful news. I am too far away to help but will be praying for Piper's safe return!

I have tried parrotalert, Craigslist, vets in the former foster's area, pet shops, have had people in NC and other states pass out the flyer, have the information with the SPCA/Humane Society, wildlife rehabilitators, animal control. Anywhere that has something to go with animals got my flyer.

As of CB and Pigpen being left with the new foster, I've have absolutely no contact with the former. She won't answer texts and deleted me from facebook. She is also doing absolutely nothing to find a bird she lost because he's "my bird and my responsibility".

This is terrible! I hope you find him soon! It sounds like you have done everything possible to get the best network of people/organizations working with you to find him.

I have some things to say about the situation with the foster, but this is a public forum...

Well it is her problem.. it was her responsibilty to care for the bird.

Poe, feel free. She doesn't come on here anymore and if she did, I am sure she would be immediately banned for her disrespect at any rate.

If she were going to do anything, she would have done it on day one. Like you said, her lack of remorse and negation of responsibility given to her speaks volumes of the kind of person she is. No offense but given her past attitude toward you, I wouldn't have even considered giving her the birds in the first place.

Wondering the same thing...

Not speaking for Kaela personally, but even here the person we are speaking of was tweaky. Talking about getting tired of certain birds and then suddenly its like "Oh, by the way, I just bought a whole new flock". Who does that? She offended very easily, took everything personally and then would throw a tantrum and demand to be removed from the forum. So we did.

My issue with her surrounded a certain guy and provided no indication that she would lose my bird.

No but it did provide indication of her erratic attitude and behavior. I never trusted her.

Without knowing much about the person who was "looking after" (I would say responsible for - but apparently she would disagree with that term) your fids, I can only comment on the current situation and reaction to it.

Even if she was not "responsible" for the birds, it speaks volumes about her character that someone she is at the very least acquainted with - if not friendly with - is currently in need of support and assistance which - considering her proximity to the area of concern - she would be able to provide better than most on this forum (and for all I know most of the people you associate with in general - I don't know how many friends you have in that area); and yet, she refuses to assist or even show concern for your feelings.

She fails to assist you because "It's not her problem". This is unfortunate, but someone who treats others this way is not worth the energy it takes to be angry with them. That energy could be better used focused on finding Piper.

If I knew people in your area - or I lived closer - I would be all over spreading the word. I DO promise to keep an eye out just in case he somehow makes it up North. Which - frankly - would be SUPER impressive.

Really trying not to get my hopes up, but I got a call from the Surry Animal Rescue saying the local middle school found a bird the day I called them. I can't imagine two birds would go missing in the same area on the same day.

I really, really, really hope this is him.

The school secretary wasn't sure exactly who had the bird, so hopefully I will know sometime later today or tomorrow.

The school in relation to the foster is about 11 miles.

Not unheard of. We've gotten stories of birds flying hundreds of miles.
